SCADA Client Story
“Who would you call to help choose the best? Someone better, of course.” (The Smartest Guys in the Room) (Keystone Pipeline)
“Who would you call to help choose the best? Someone better, of course.”
When TransCanada, the company leading the execution of the $5.2 billion Keystone Pipeline project, needed a vendor to install a Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system- Who did they call? GlobaLogix, of course.
The system was installed to provide secure, remote views of their vast pipeline system, and to review data through a variety of telecommunications links- including satellite, data radio, frame delay, dial-up, and leased line. The cost was not the deciding factor in the selection of this vendor. TransCanada wanted the best technology available. GlobaLogix was commissioned to lead this review because of our non-alliance with any one technology or brand.
We were able to provide an unbiased, professional decision, just based on the technology that would be the most effective to accomplish the desired results. We developed a series of vendor selection reduction stages that cut the available vendors from 12 to 3. From there, we were able to interview and direct the vendors to provide presentations to TransCanada that focused on their technological abilities. The client selected a winning vendor after some very vigorous and detailed contract negotiations. But the story did not end there. GlobaLogix was assigned the role of Project Manager and technical director, to assist the winning vendor with programming and design of the program.
