What’s In It For You?

The Cost of Crying “Wolf.”

GlobaLogix recently installed Axis security cameras tied into existing second-generation, rules-based analytics software. Video alerts for any movement such as wind gusts, rain, small animals, as well as, if a human activity were received. The number of “false alarms” rendered the system almost unusable. These inappropriate alerts often require that camera software reset, causing frustration and significant costs in terms of staff productivity.

The challenge for GlobaLogix was to eliminate false and trivial alerts, while remaining capable of alerting the client to the increased vandalism, copper theft, safety issues (a lone employee on-site), and operational problems.

The Solution: AISight represents a dramatic leap forward in real-time situational awareness, compared to rules-based video analytics. With over 80 patents granted or pending, AISight provides accurate, real-time alerts to security personnel about real threats; while continuously learning to ignore the everyday behaviors that trigger exponential numbers of false alarms in other products. Busy security personnel no longer wasted valuable time with systems that continually cried “wolf”.

Take a Flood Insurance Lesson from HAZMON

Houston is amazingly flat, with high ground existing mostly on freeway interchanges. What About Ethics?

Ethics are a set of standards which define correct or desired behavior. That’s an easy definition to state but in practice a hard concept to embrace.  The word is worn like the proverbial cheap suit and bandied about by those whose behavior makes most of us shudder.  Hard to define, ethical behavior is something most[…..]
